Discovering the haunted town of Bhangarh in Rajasthan!

If you are among the fantasy lovers or seek for some thrilling trips, Rajasthan’s Bhangarh is surely the ideal destination for you. Termed as the “Ghost town of Rajasthan”, Bhangarh was established in the year 1613 by Madho Singh, son of Mughal general, Man Singh.

Ancient tales say that the place was deserted soon after being built and allegedly being cursed by a magician. Despite the horror tales surrounding it, the place is visited by many tourists on a Rajasthan tour and is a prime attraction owing to its fascinating sites. The premises of it are enclosed by a partly ruined wall. Ruins of it also comprise of the gardens, havelis, Lord Someshwar, mangla devi, gopinath and Keshava rai temples and the banyan trees.

Bhangarh is surrounded by many forts built in the same era and most of them share a related past. Ajabgarh is a charming garrison fort sandwiched between Bhangarh and Pratapgarh. It was built by Ajab Singh Rajawat, grandson of Madho Singh. Next is Pratapgarh, which is a noteworthy fort, situated on hill top. Pratapgarh and its surrounding area are well-known for its natural surrounding and scenic landscape. It has two temples and a mosque

The town of Bhangarh & its Archeological importance

It is an antique town of archeological importance. During recent digging, various types of tools used by cave man have been discovered. The Archeological survey of India (ASI) has even put up a sign board here which clearly mentions that entering the borders of the fort before sunrise and after sunset is firmly forbidden.

Tourists, who come here as part of their Rajasthan tour, often talk of experiencing a weird feeling in the atmosphere of Bhangarh, which causes anxiety and restiveness. But still the place has number of guests coming in every year!
